Common questions

Is DiscList free? DiscList is free to download with a 7-day trial. After that, a single one-time purchase unlocks the app permanently. No subscriptions, no recurring fees.

How does the free trial work? The trial starts when you first sync your Discogs collection — not when you install. You get 7 days of full access to see how DiscList works with your own data. After the trial, a paywall appears with a one-time unlock option.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device? Open the app and tap "Restore Purchase" on the paywall screen. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID, so it transfers to any device signed in to the same account.

How do I connect my Discogs account? Open the Settings tab and tap "Sign in with Discogs." You'll be redirected to Discogs to authorize DiscList. Your credentials are stored securely in the iOS Keychain.

Why are some titles missing from an artist's discography? DiscList fetches discography data from the Discogs database. If an artist has a very large discography, it may take a moment to load all pages. Pull down to refresh if results look incomplete. By default, only albums are shown — use the filter chips to include singles, EPs, live albums, and compilations.

Why does the missing count change after a few seconds? DiscList initially classifies titles using summary data, then refines by fetching detailed track listings from Discogs. This refinement can reclassify some titles (e.g., from "Album" to "Compilation"), which may change the count. The Discogs API has rate limits, so refinement happens progressively.

What does starring a title do? Starring marks a missing title as a hunting priority. It's local to your device and doesn't sync to Discogs. Starred titles appear in the dedicated Starred tab, grouped by artist across your entire collection — so you can see everything you're hunting in one place. You can also use the "Starred" filter chip on an individual artist's page to see only their starred titles.

What are hunting notes? Hunting notes are a scratchpad for anything you want to track that isn't in your Discogs collection yet — Record Store Day announcements, upcoming releases, or titles that aren't catalogued on Discogs at all. Add them from the Starred tab using the + button. They're stored locally and never synced anywhere.

How do I browse my full collection? The Collection tab shows all your synced artists. Use the alphabetical quick-jump index on the right edge — tap or drag any letter to jump straight to that section. Artists are sorted and grouped alphabetically, with item counts shown for each.

Can I use DiscList without a Discogs account? You can search for artists and browse discographies without signing in. To see your collection and what you're missing, you'll need to connect your Discogs account.

Where is my data stored? All data stays on your device. DiscList does not have a server. See the Privacy Policy for details.
